Consulting
Sometimes the best answers are provided when we see the building itself, so we offer onsite one-on-one consulting. Our representative from WCFP can meet and discuss your needs and provide accurate information, helping you to understand what you need to know.
Did You Know? The BC Building Code and the BC Fire Code are adopted as law in the Province of British Columbia. Each document will refer to other code documents on how to do things which are then explained in greater detail, such as the CAN/ULC Series or NFPA documents. These by extension are also adopted as law. As such these documents are enforceable in a court of law.
What You Need To Know: The BC Fire Code states: Unless otherwise specified, the owner or owners authorized agent is responsible for carrying out the Provisions of this code. (BCFC 2.2.1.1)
This means that the owner is responsible for maintaining the life safety and fire protection systems in his building according to the BC Fire Code. It also means that owners are legally responsible and liable for any failure to comply with the BCFC. This requires an understanding of the BC Fire Code and what their responsibilities are.
If you are a building owner, where can you go to find accurate answers to your questions about what your responsibilities are?
There is a lot of misinformation, which has led to considerable confusion and frustration for many. However, the best place to find accurate information is to go to the Code itself.
Did you know: The British Columbia Building Code and the British Columbia Fire Code are now free online. To view please visit the BC Codes Website at: http://www.bccodes.ca/index.html
While it is important to read the code itself, we understand that it is not easy to understand.
